Poor web design needs to be defined.

  • The best looking web page is useless if it is lost in Cyberspace. Having to pay each search engine for position is not the best solution
  • Sites using frames
  • Poor navigation.  At lease every page should have a link to home.  Machiavellian are sites that trap you with no escape but to close the browser or go to history.
  • Slow loading.  Not everyone has broadband.
  • Have "alt" text for images for disabled.
  • Simple without too much clutter and distractions.
  • Large enough >10 points fonts, in a contrasting enough colour to read.
  • Don't have inappropriate, looping sounds.

After reading my tips, you'll understand how important good keywords are in strategic places of web pages, to address the first point mentioned above: Good Search Engine Position Ranking.

I know I'm not the best web designer when I comes to looks but hey, I don't charge $10,000 a site and my clients pages get found by search engines.  Poor web design is not nice appealing so I'm happy to work with web developers to prevent their poor web design from my point of view and my poor web design from their point of view.  I'm even willing to reward web developers with 4 Web Marketing's Affiliate Program.

with irrelevant words like "welcome" in the page title.  Eg Sunmoon Resort and Hotel Rendezvous. If you were looking for accommodation would you type the keyword "welcome" into your search engine ?!  "Welcome" should not belong in the TITLE of a page (after clicking on the links above, look at the very top line of your screen for page title text, usually white text on blue background) Look at the top of your screen now for : "You are reading the TITLE of this web page."

Keywords

Most web pages I look at have too many keywords, and poor choice of phrases.  Some don't have any keywords in their title nor description. www.lavillelambert.com is the latest example which comes to mind because they are in the process of getting me to start work for them.  This example might not be so good to look at in the future if they take on an optimisation plan.
